Dunfermline New City Assembly
We all want Dunfermline to be a great place to call home.
As our city grows and develops, how do we continue to improve our
community for today and tomorrow?
The New City
The Dunfermline New City Assembly is a project about the future of Dunfermline. The Electoral Reform Society Scotland, Fife Council and the Scottish Government are working with local people, groups and organisations to bring everyone together and make plans for the city’s future.
A Citizens’ Assembly is a group of people chosen in the same way a jury is. The aim is to have lots of different kinds of people from the community. Together, they learned about important issues, shared their ideas, and then made suggestions for how Dunfermline should grow and change. These ideas were then taken to the council to help shape the city in the years ahead.

Summary Report
In January and February 2026, 31 people from across Dunfermline came together to answer the following question:
‘We all want Dunfermline to be a great place to call home.
As our city grows and develops, how do we continue to
improve our community for today and tomorrow’
This is a summary of what they decided. This is to accompany the full report which will be released in due course.
