A Citizens’ Assembly is a group of people who are selected like a jury. They are chosen in a way that reflects the wider population. This ensures the assembly includes a fair mix of ages, incomes, and characteristics from across the community.
Thousands of invites were sent to homes in Dunfermline. These letters provide information about the Assembly. They include details including the dates the Assembly will meet. In addition, the letter contains the question being posed to the eventual participants.
Everyone who receives a letter was then be able to register their interest and put their name forward. Those who are selected to take part will also be paid for their time. This is to reduce barriers to entry.
